Dear Butch:
When we first met and you explained the concept that building a new home should be fun and a good experience, both Charlotte and I were somewhat skeptical. Over the years we have built three other homes and experienced just about every nightmare that could be imagined with new construction. During those experiences there were many surprises, and most of them were unpleasant. We were hopeful that it would be different this time, and this brief note is to thank you for proving to us that new home construction can be a pleasure.
Our new home was started on time and finished early. The only surprises were good ones that involved high quality workmanship and the many little extras that you included in our home. When we had an appointment to meet with one of your sub-contractors, they were always on time, listened to us carefully and provided high quality workmanship. Your Superintendent was meticulous in following up on all details and was always available when we needed him. The decorator service was tremendous in helping us, as were all of the other people who helped select appliances and other fixtures.
Building a new home this time was fun and a pleasurable experience as you said it would be. Your office staff was always available and could be counted on to follow every detail. It is always good to work with a professional, and Palmetto Custom Construction is professional in every way.
Our home is beautiful, and we thank you for keeping your word that building a new home can be fun.
Sincerely,
Norman F. Nickerson

It gives me great pleasure
to write this letter of reference for Palmetto Custom Construction.
This was the first time I had ever built a home, and based upon
the collective experiences of my friends, I was prepared for my
worst nightmare. Things could not have been further from the truth.
From 1 he first day I met with the company's president, Charles
T. 'Butch ' Hatchell, I knew I was in good hands. He took a genuine
interest in me as a person and adapted the architectural plans
of a house I liked accordingly. He built in many features in a
cost-conscious manner. He was sensitive to issues of privacy and
worked hard to preserve the environment and the lake view when
placing my house on the piece of property I had purchased in the
WoodLake subdivision. He kept me informed throughout the entire
building process and was up front and honest regarding any changes
that became necessary.
In closing I must mention that as a physician who cares for children
with cancer, 1 really do know what it is like to have someone
place their complete trust and confidence in me as a doctor. When
I first began this house-building experience, I needed a builder
to play that role for me. I am thrilled that 1 found Butch Hatchell
and Palmetto Custom Construction.
Sincerely,
Robert S. Ettinger, M.D.
